Parish Hall

St Mary's church hall opened in 1980 and has been a home for parish life ever since. It has been repaired and improved in recent years, and it hosts many of our parish groups — among them Chat and Do, which meets every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm for activities and good conversation, and where newcomers to the parish are especially welcome.

The hall is overseen by the Parish Hall Committee, working with Fr Peter, the Hall Administrator, the Parish Hall Keeper and the Hall Safeguarding Manager, so that it is run safely and in line with civil and canon law and our insurers' requirements.

Venue: St Mary's

Using the Hall

Groups from outside the parish may apply to use the hall, subject to a few ground rules:

  • Events can take place between 1pm and 10pm. The hall is not available for non-parish activities on Sundays.
  • Please send a written request to the Parish Priest at least 30 days before you would like to use the hall (or begin using it, for regular bookings), briefly explaining the activity and the hours needed.
  • If your activity involves children or vulnerable adults, you will be referred to the Hall Safeguarding Manager. Otherwise, the Parish Hall Keeper will carry out a health and safety check before a usage agreement is signed.
  • The parish's public liability insurance covers only church personnel and property, so hirers need their own cover.
