EUCHARIST
The Sacrament of the Eucharist
The Eucharist is the "source and summit" of Christian life. At every Mass, through the words of Jesus at the Last Supper spoken by the priest, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. In Holy Communion, Jesus gives himself to us as food for the journey.
What the Holy Eucharist means for everyday life.
In the Eucharist we are nourished, strengthened and drawn closer to Christ and to one another. Week by week, it gives us the grace to carry Christ's love into our homes, workplaces and community, especially to those most in need. First Holy Communion is a joyful milestone for children and families, but the Eucharist is meant to sustain us for the whole of life. Those who are housebound can receive Holy Communion at home.
Mass is celebrated every day at St Mary's and on Sundays and selected weekdays at Our Lady's, and our Masses are livestreamed. Children usually prepare for First Holy Communion through St Mary's Primary School and the parish; families whose children attend another school should contact the parish office. If you or someone you know would like Holy Communion brought to them at home, please let us know.
