ANOINTING OF RCIA CANDIDATES : Since our candidates have now completed volume 1 of their program, entitled “My Catholic Faith”, I will anoint them at Masses next weekend, 14 th & 15 th November, as a way of signifying and promoting their growth in spiritual strength in the Holy Spirit. They are not being anointed with the oil of the sick! Rather, it is a way of bringing them and their courageous efforts to the attention of the parish community so that we can continue to support them with our prayers, our presence and our friendship. Please make a point of encouraging and welcoming them personally!

The Bishops’ Conference are excited to offer Called and Sent, formation for Christian leaders. This course will equip people with skills and tools that, while necessary in the Church today, will be even more so in the Church going into the future, where clergy, lay and religious are called to be co-responsible for the ‘the being and action of the Church’. (Pope Benedict). We are looking for people who are prayerful, faith-filled and already involved in the life of the Church in their parish, diocese or organisation. The first formation day will take place on 23 January 2027 at the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Glasgow, followed by four online evening sessions between February and May. For more information, and to apply for Called and Sent, go to: https://www.iscglasgow.co.uk/called-and-sent

I want to thank Mary’s family for sharing with us the many good and admirable things about her and who she is. They paint a beautiful picture of a beautiful soul: her love for family and friends, her being a people person in the way she welcomed everyone, listened to their chat and needs and […]

I always feel hugely disappointed when, after hearing a splendid eulogy about someone like Sharon, I never actually got to know them in this life. The Sharon whose eulogy only someone like her husband Stuart could produce strikes you as a remarkable human being, as someone you just ought to have known. Then again, as […]
