Poems & Songs from Children of P4 on the lockdown! 08.06.20

A few weeks ago, I encouraged everyone, but especially our children, to beat the bore of the virus by writing songs, poems, prayers, etc..! Mrs. Teaz, our P4 teacher at St. Mary’s, launched the challenge to her class. So, I am delighted to present five compositions for everyone’s delectation!

A BIG THANKYOU from me to Sophia, Millie, Emily, Charlie and Murray for working so hard and using your talents to bring joy to us all! – Fr. Peter

  1. A song for Father Peter to the tune of ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ – By Sophia

All my friends and family

I hope you are keeping well

COVID has kept us apart

But we’ll beat it soon I can tell

Each sad thing that we’ve missed

The Holy Communion and sports day as well

But all these events will come about

When lockdown’s over and we will all shout

All my friends and family

I hope you are keeping well

COVID has kept us apart

But we’ll beat it soon I can tell

The weather has been so good

We’ve played in our gardens

On swings and slides having fun

Thank Lord God for the sun!

All my friends and family

I hope you are keeping well

COVID has kept us apart

But we’ll beat it soon I can tell

Lockdown will soon be at an end

And I will see all my friends

In COVID we had to be brave

But it was worth it to be safe!

All my friends and family

I hope you are keeping well

COVID has kept us apart

But we’ll beat it soon I can tell.

2) Millie in Lockdown – By Millie

These are the things that l miss.

Mostly seeing my family for a cuddle and kiss.

My brother in Stirling, my sister and baby nephew.

I missed seeing his first tooth and that made me blue.

I missed my First Holy Communion Day

I miss seeing my friends every day.

I miss going on holiday and seeing new places.

I miss going to parties with lots of happy faces.

These are the things that I  like.

I  have learned how to ride my new bike.

I go on long walks with my dog up the hills and far.

It’s been over 9 weeks since I have been shopping in the car.

I like FaceTime with friends for a chat.

Our weekly family quiz I’m great at that!

I love spending lots of time with my mum and dad

Lockdown has been hard but not all that bad!!!!!!

3) Our Tadpoles – By Emily

I wish I were a tadpole, a tadpole

Swimming, swimming all day long,

I cannot swim, swim all day long,

For coronavirus will not let me swim

I wish I were a tadpole, a tadpole

Playing, playing with his friends,

I cannot play, play with my friends,

For coronavirus will not let me play

I wish I were a tadpole, a tadpole

Growing, growing without a care,

I grow, grow worrying, waiting,

For coronavirus to disappear

I wish I were a tadpole, a frog,

Jumping, jumping to freedom,

I jump, jump dreaming, dreaming,

For coronavirus to give me my freedom.

4. I’m Happy – By Charlie

I’m happy at home,

But sometimes I feel alone,

Because I miss my friends and the fun we had at school,

The things we learn about, and my teacher, who is really cool.

I’m happy we’re all healthy,

Because we take great care,

Keeping safe and clean,

And not really going anywhere.

Sometimes it gets boring,

But if I were at school I would be very happy,

But I’m unhappy,

Because Coronavirus has got us in lockdown.

5. Quarantine – By Murray

When we’re stuck in quarantine,

My family is the best team.

We play games and have fun,

And there’s certainly lots to be done.

Staying at home is not bad,

Even though we are kind of sad.

I can keep in touch with my friends and family,

And to talk to them every day which makes me happy.

I miss my friends and my teacher,

My cat is now my favourite creature.

I can’t wait to get back to normal,

When life is just more formal.
