The Bishop has now decreed that funerals must be limited to a short service at either the crematorium or graveside with, in attendance, only close family members. This is a particularly difficult measure for grieving families and close friends but, sadly, it is necessary so as to limit as much as possible the spread of the coronavirus.

When the virus has run its course, families can most certainly ask for a memorial Mass to be celebrated in church for the deceased at a later date.

To be clear, the funeral Mass due to take place this coming Friday for Mr. Tom Rutherford, RIP, has now been cancelled. There will be a private graveside service only. Please keep his dear wife, Anne, in your prayers.
